Which restaurant has the best french fries has been one of the greatest food debates for generations with strong opinions across the board. So, Premise decided to use our technology to help businesses uncover what they’re doing well and what they can improve on when it comes to one of the most important items they offer on their menu.
In our search to discover what customers thought were the best french fries in the country, we asked 100 Contributors across the United States to help us rate and evaluate key attributes. Our Contributors visited 10 fast food chains: Arby’s, Burger King, Chick-fil-A, Five Guys, Hardee’s, In-N-Out, McDonald’s, Popeyes and Wendy’s. They were tasked with ordering medium french fries (or the equivalent size if medium wasn’t an option) and reporting back on taste, texture, temperature and price.
We asked them what they prioritize most in their fries and this is what they said:
Our results revealed taste and temperature to be the top attributes that make for the best french fries.
When we asked our Contributors to tell us their favorite fast food restaurant for french fries, 23% said McDonald’s, 14% said Chick-fil-A and 12% said Burger King.
But, which fries are actually the best, objectively? The results may surprise you.
- According to our Contributors, the top 3 french fries with the most satisfying taste are Chick-fil-A, Arby’s and Shake Shack.
- Not only is Chick-fil-A the french fry with the highest taste satisfaction, but the fries also have the most enjoyable texture, followed by Popeye’s and Arby’s.
- Another win for Chick-fil-A? Their french fries are the most affordable, averaging $1.99 for an order of medium fries.
- The only category where Chick-fil-A doesn’t take the top spot is temperature, where Five Guys ranks highest.
Based on the priorities and observations reported by our Contributors, we determined that Chick-fil-A offers the best french fries in America.
